Lam Soon’s plantations invest in sustainability and workers’ welfare
2018 : Lam Soon’s oil palm plantations completed the following projects.
  1. Palm oil mill in Muadzam Shah, Pahang (Dara Lam Soon)
Dara Lam Soon has installed and commissioned a palm oil mill effluent dewatering machine. The said machine continuously de-sludges solid from the pond, the sludge cake is then used as organic fertiliser for the oil palm trees. In this process, the biochemical oxygen demand of mill effluent is also indirectly reduced to a permissible level before being discharged from the effluent pond.
  2. Workers’ housing & facilities, Lahad Datu, Sabah (Lam Soon Plantations) Lam Soon Plantations constructed two units of semi-detached staff houses and 20 units of workers’ houses to replace wooden houses. In addition, it completed a primary school and kindergarten complex to house 180 of its workers’ children, and a new ‘surau’ for Muslim workers.
